I was so satisfied with my dinner that I forgot to take a photo of the facade. From what I can tell, there are locals eating here besides us tourist. We left around 6pm and the place still not really busy. We wished we can stuff more food in our stomach but alas it was near bursting! Besides the immensely yummmmmmy dim sum and relaxing atmosphere, what makes the experience more worthwhile are the friendly staffs. Steamed rice rolls stuffed with barbecued pork HK$23. The ones at Olympian City and North Point were awarded with Bib Gourmand. Only the Tim Ho Wan at Sham Shui Po was awarded 1 Michelin star for 2018. It’s the second store opened after the original store at Mong Kok. There are several branches in Hong Kong and I choose the one with the highest rating in Kowloon area, which is the Sham Shui Po branch. I’ve dined at Tim Ho Wan before, certainly not in Hong Kong, but at Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur. I planned to dine at their original shop, however, I found out the original shop at Kwong Wa Street is no longer operating. So this time in my 3rd visit to Hong Kong, I make sure to grab a bite at Tim Ho Wan. I missed out on it when I visited Hong Kong 7 years ago. I’ve had this place on my to-eat list since then. It’s a dim sum place that offers quality food made with premium ingredients at an affordable price (although it’s not so affordable for me!). We soon learned that these faces are the owners of this lovely space a café by day, wine bar by night, and design studio by, well, whenever.Quite a long while back I got to know about Tim Ho Wan, the world’s cheapest Michelin starred restaurant. We walked in and were greeted by two pleasant faces. It was early Friday morning, and we thought to check out the newly opened before work. I say, Singapore is small enough, limit it before it loses its novelty. In the next 2 years, Chef Mak’s plan is to have his crew open 3 – 4 Tim Ho Wan outlets here. Come out, knowing that you only paid SGD7 for a filling dim sum breakfast. But well, look at it this way – with no expectations in mind, with no knowledge that this is a Michelin-starred restaurant, head to Tim Ho Wan, try their dim sum. People might be disappointed with the hype and all. Compared to them, Tim Ho Wan’s prices were dirt cheap. So my dining companions and I were second in line. Tim Ho Wan earned a Michelin star on the same year it opened His humble restaurant in Mongkok, a 15-seater affair, promptly earned a Michelin star in the 2010 HK and Macau Michelin guideamong high-priced fine-dining restaurants. I was there about 45 minutes before its opening hour. Anyhows, I guess this wasn’t really made to satisfy your taste buds? It was rather bland, and can get cloying after a while. It is only until we realized that we each only paid SGD7 for the entire meal (excluding this) that we started laughing about it.
